&Deacs Roadshow: Principled Journalism

6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.

The &Deacs Roadshow is a traveling event series designed to bring an authentically Wake Forest experience to our WAKECommunities through intellectual engagement, connection and the magic that can only happen in a room full of Deacs. Join Wake Forest Professor of Practice Justin Catanoso (MALS '93) for a conversation featuring Shane Harris ('98) and Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic, and Margaret Brennan of CBS Face the Nation.

Pro Humanitate Days 2026 - DC - Difficult Run Stream Cleanup

8:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M.

Participants will meet at Difficult Run Stream parking lot. Please consider carpooling as the parking lot fills up early on nice days. This event will happen rain or shine. Families are welcome. There is easy access to many parts of the Difficult Run trail. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Trash bags will be provided. Please bring gloves/trash grabbers and a full water bottle. Wear clothing and shoes/boots that can get dirty. Everyone is welcome to bring a snack and stay to enjoy hiking after the cleanup.

Pro Humanitate Days 2026 - DC - Arlington Food Assistance Center

10:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.

Supplemental groceries from Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) mean that families can remain in their homes, workers can stay on the job, children are ready to learn, and mothers and babies receive essential nutrition. Volunteers will either help bag produce, bag and seal dry goods, or sort donated food for AFAC clients.  - Everyone must wear closed-toe shoes - Please bring a hat or head covering (hairnets are provided) - All volunteers must be at least 12 years old - If you're feeling sick, please stay home - Street parking on Nelson St is free for two hours

Pro Humanitate Days 2026 - DC - YMCA of Metropolitan Washington DC's Youth & Government Program AM

8:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.

Volunteers will be assisting with various needs related to the DC Youth & Government Legislative Weekend organized by YMCA of Metropolitan Washington. The Youth & Government program empowers youth to become ethical and responsible citizens. Volunteer work will be mostly indoors with potential for light to medium weight supply moving. Duties may include: setting up check-in station to welcome high school groups and distribute supplies, providing in room and hallway supervision, doing mealtime set up and clean up. The volunteer dress code for Youth & Government Legislative Weekend is business casual/business professional. Because volunteers will be interacting with youth under 18, a background check and Child Abuse Prevention Training (presented over Zoom) are required.

Pro Humanitate Days 2026 - DC - Open Goal

7:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M.

Join fellow Wake Forest University alumni in Washington, DC for a meaningful Pro Humanitate Day opportunity with Open Goal Project, a groundbreaking nonprofit committed to eliminating systemic barriers associated with pay-to-play soccer founded by former Wake Forest standout soccer student-athlete Amir Lowery. A DC native, Amir (currently the organization’s Executive Director) played professionally for nearly a decade before returning home to create Open Goal Project — a nonprofit committed to eliminating financial barriers in youth soccer and creating pathways to college, careers, and leadership for youth from marginalized communities in DC. Through competitive soccer and holistic programming, including DC Football Club (DCFC), D.C.'s first and only 100% free-to-play youth travel soccer club, Open Goal Project serves more than 500 young men and women annually. All of Open Goal Project’s programs are 100% free to participants, and are entirely funded by donations, grants, and corporate sponsorships. MLS GO Powered by DCFC is Open Goal Project’s in-house league for student-athletes ages 5–12. Participants train twice per week and compete in small-sided games on Saturday mornings. The program emphasizes fun, accessibility, and skill development, while serving as a feeder into DC Football Club (DCFC), Open Goal Project’s free competitive travel program. Learn more about MLS GO here: https://www.opengoalproject.org/mlsgo Saturday, March 21 is the MLS Go Powered by DCFC Spring Kickoff Day — when student-athletes receive their new uniforms for the season and play their first games of the spring. Volunteer Roles For The Day May Include: Organizing jerseys for distribution Handing out kits to players Working alongside Open Goal Project staff to manage distribution and organization Assisting with equipment setup and field management Assisting Open Goal Project coaches with overseeing small-sided games Managing coffee and snack table distribution for families and participants This is a hands-on opportunity to live out Wake Forest’s Pro Humanitate spirit while supporting a fellow Demon Deacon who is using the power of sport to expand access and opportunity in his hometown. Families with kids are encouraged to attend and kids are encouraged to bring their cleats to play! We hope you’ll join us on the field!

Washington DMV Area - School of Business Alumni Happy Hour

5:30 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.

School of Business alumni are invited to this laid-back networking event designed to grow your local Biz Deac circle. We’ve got your evening covered with two drink tickets (beer/wine), appetizers and great company (included in your $10 registration fee). Drop by Tom's Watch Bar in the National Harbor area and meet fellow DC/VA/MD area Wake Foresters. You are invited to register one guest. Hosted by the Executive Director for the Center for Analytics Impact and School of Business Associate Teaching Professor, Dr. Chris Smith.
